Happy Birthday Luke!

WOW, Luke is six years old today! What a wild ride it's been the last six years. Luke has grown and changed so much. Such an amazing journey! Tonight we ate Luke's favorite meal: Fettucinie Alfredo, Romaine Salad with Balsamic Vinegrette dressing and apple pie to finish up! Because of timing issues and conference, we had his friend party two weeks ago. It ended up being really nice to separate the two because we were able to just have fun tonight and make it really special. He did have a great friend party though.

As most of you know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE birthday parties, so they are always a bit of an event at our house. This year Luke had a difficult time deciding on a theme, but finally settled on a Spy/Detective party theme. So I searched online and found the cutest ideas. We made invitations out of file folders, just like real case files, complete with agent names, an agency (The LDA: Lucas Detective Agency) and of course a top secret message (party details) for them to decode using the bathroom mirror. Upon arrival at the LDA Headquarters, each agent received a spy badge, spy hat (fedora), magnifying glass, notepad, pen, secret alias...you know the works! Then they had a scavenger hunt, played various top secret games, knocked a pinata silly, scrambled for candy, moved onto cupcakes and finally opened gifts. Luke had a great time and I think we made some fun family memories.

Viva Las Vegas!

Thanks to my sister, Maggie, Trent & I were able to enjoy a much needed weekend getaway! We headed up to Las Vegas to see some shows and hang out with friends. Here's what the weekend consisted of:

  • We attended a Collective Soul concert with our friends, Barry & Alisa. The concert was Collective Soul's first ever acoustic gig! We weren't sure what to expect, but it was awesome. They stayed acoustic for the bulk of the evening and then plugged in the electric guitar for a kind of hybrid-acoustic sound to round the show out. It was a great sound and we hope they do more shows like this.
  • We saw some of the Bellagio water shows.
  • We went shopping.
  • We enjoyed the hotels spring flowers and decor.
  • We went to one of Vegas' fabulous all you can eat buffet's.
  • We went to the M&M factory and Coca Cola store.
  • We saw cirque du soleil perform O. It was truly a masterpiece. You could tell that they went to every extreme from costumes, choreography, set design, lighting, stunts, acrobatics and music. It was just amazing, a bit random at times, but I suppose that's the beauty of cirque du soleil. We can't wait to see another one!
  • You might be thinking something is missing from our list, something that Las Vegas is famous for...GAMBLING. Well, we're not big gamblers, it's actually a pretty silly way to spend ones time. That being said, we did spend about $7 total and ended up winning $50 ($30 for Trent and $20 for me). We quickly cashed out our prize and congratulated ourselves on earning a little gas money!

The Daily Catch, Vol. 1, March 22, 2007

"One week before boards, but who can study when it's spring time and the fish are biting. Who would've guessed I would catch a shark with a worm. The day's catch included: 1 Corbina, 10 Surf Perch and 2 Leopard Shark. " That's all Trent had to say, he has really been enjoying ocean fishing. He's been pretty successful each time he's gone, which is whenever he can get away. I'm hoping he'll warm up to this blogger business and post more play by play action next time.

She likes cream puffs...I mean who wouldn't right?!!

She had a moment of doubt
and had to see if the thumb was in fact better tasting
than the cream puff...see below for your answer.

Trent went to some military training and had to get a buzz cut

Carley & Daisy...destined to be friends

Awwwwwe!

All these little personalities smashed into one space.
It's going to be fun to watch these kids grow.

Aunt Maggie moved out West for a job and came for a visit!
She brought along Grandma May too.
We love it when Aunt Maggie & Grandma come!

Shenanigans...I came in from outside to this scene.
At first I thought, "poor Carley" but then realized that she liked it!
Who knew a ride in the cooler was so entertaining. Good job Luke!

Luke is turning 6 in a few days. He had a friend birthday party with kids from school and the neighborhood. It was warm enough for water games, so the kids played outside the entire time. I'm pretty sure they'll all sleep really good tonight.
