Family Visit - Todd, Amyjoy & Co.

Our house has had invaders...of the friendly kind!
Trent's brother Todd, his wife Amyjoy and their kids Annika, Tobin, Mason & Ryan have been visiting us. Our kids were in cousin heaven! They started their vacation off at Disneyland and we were worried about them b/c it rained and rained and rained like it was nobodies business while they were there. By the time they arrived at our house they were a tiny bit waterlogged and just wanted to play and stay dry!

Trent and I were trying to think of fun things to do that would entertain everyone. What we realized is that Southern California isn't made to entertain in the rain. I think despite the weather we managed to have a lot of fun.

Day 1- we stayed indoors b/c of more rain. Todd & Amyjoy did some much needed laundry since they'd had to wear everything they brought to stay dry at Disneyland! I kept Luke & Emry home from school and the kids played and played the entire day. It was fun to see how fast they became friends. We made calzones and the kids got to put on their own ingredients. After dinner, Todd & Trent took all the kids bowling! Amyjoy and I stayed home b/c Mason had gotten sick just as we'd left to go to the bowling alley. Mason is such a cool kid. Even though he was sick and had just thrown up he was gracious, kind and smiling. He just wanted to lay down and sleep.

Day 2-Todd & Amyjoy took the boys downtown San Diego to Balboa Park. Luke really had a good time! I kept the girls here and we watched Barbie movies, played Polly Pockets and painted nails! It was a very girlie day!!

Later that evening we ate a nice dinner and the watched the kids play twister! It was pretty hilarious. Their was a lot of giggling and cheating and bending and stretching and sliding going on!! I forgot how fun that game can be.

Day 3- The sun finally came out the morning Todd & Amyjoy had to leave. The kids didn't waste any time and played in the sunshine until they had to get into the van! These are really the only photos we took, we were having too much fun gabbing to think about a camera! We're sorry about all the bad weather, but so happy you were able to come and play with us!! See you in June!

Embarrassing Moment

Luke had his first really embarrassing moment at school earlier today (well at least I was embarrassed for him). At lunch time I received a phone call from the school asking me to bring a new pair of pants for Luke. I was puzzled and asked what had happened. The office lady didn't know the details but told me he was at lunch with a sweater around his waist. I was mortified for him so I quickly grabbed new pants and drove to the school. When I got there I found him in the cafeteria eating and laughing with his friends. On our way to the bathroom I saw that he had a huge rip all the way down the side of his left back pocket! He said he was playing handball and when he bent over to get the ball, his pants split right open! I asked him if he was ok or if he was embarrassed because he can be a softy sometimes. He just smiled a sly grin, shrugged his shoulders and said he was more embarrassed about wearing his teachers sweater around his waist (what a boy response). When he got home he put the ripped pair back on so he could, "feel the breeze".

ps. notice the hair growth. slowly but surely it's coming back.

Super Dad!!

Luke and I were out running errands together and one thing that was on our list were new workout clothes for Trent. While in the tightie whitie isle we came across some adult super hero underpants! We laughed and laughed in the store until our cheeks hurt. (well I was laughing, Luke was looking for similar undies in his size b/c he thought they were sooo cool!) After I'd composed myself, we decided to choose a pair for Trent. After all, he was starting a new exercise regime, and who doesn't need a little positive encouragement! Into the cart they went.

When we got home Luke gave them to him and he was very surprised. He just stared at them, wondering if we were serious or not. It didn't take him long to get into the spirit of the moment!!

A Budding Photographer???

Luke's been trying his hand at photography. Every now and then he uses my point and shoot to snap some shots! I was looking through his photos and found this clever self portrait...maybe he's on to something here? Time will tell.

The Cronicles of Tapa...the cat.

OK Cat lovers of the world explain this....we're going on vacation and wanted to board our cat, but they wouldn't take her unles...
