Carley Is 3!!

we kept things low key this year for Carley's special day.  we went to Ted's for pizza and then home for cake and presents!  in the morning i asked Carley what kind of cake she wanted, i was about to give her options (choc, vanilla, etc...), but she blurted out that she wanted PINK!  so pink it was.  strawberry cupcakes and pink strawberry frosting with pink sprinkles of course!  she even helped me make them.  her favorite part was licking the spoon.

it was fun to watch her open her gifts since this is the first year that she really knew what was going on and was excited.  trent and i gave her a sleeping beauty costume and my parents gave her 2 barbies (Rapunzel & a singing Ariel).  she was speechless and maybe even a little overwhelmed by the end of it all.  she just walked off in a happy pink trance...her reaction was so out of character for her that it made us all feel really good.  she was in heaven, the happiest 3 year old on the block!

Happy Birthday Carley!!!

comments from the peanut gallery

  • Today is day 4 of our marathon drive/vacation/move.  We were driving through a neighborhood of nice houses and commenting about the ones we (trent and I) liked.  Emry piped up from the back seat and said "I could live in any of these houses it doesn't matter."  We chuckled and told her that we were currently without a house.  she immediately answered back, "we have a house...our van, duh."  We looked at each other and burst out laughing...what else could we say.

  • Carley is calling zucchini bread..."bahkini bread".  She absolutely loves it, so we hear this all day long.

shhhh...don't tell...

today is moving day and i'm packing up the loose ends while trent takes a load to donate.  i'm supposed to be working right this very minute because there is much to be done, the kids are still slumbering and it's foggy outside (almost like cali is saying good bye to me).

we were at the beach last night, it was bittersweet.  we walked our favorite pier for the last time and ate dinner at the little diner, ruby's, at the end of it.  the kids ran between all the fishermen to see what treasures their buckets held, we breathed in the salty sea air and played in the sand and waves .  good times have been had here and i am so very sad that our time here has come to an end...sniff, sniff i can't help but tear up a bit.  i hope it is in our future to have the opportunity to come back to this heaven!

i couldn't help but take a wee little break before i put this computer in its box...so please, shhhh, don't tell!!!  next time i post we will be in wisconsin, a brand new adventure awaits.....

The Cronicles of Tapa...the cat.

OK Cat lovers of the world explain this....we're going on vacation and wanted to board our cat, but they wouldn't take her unles...
