My mother gave me this lovely advent calendar for my birthday and I could not wait to use it! Although, I'm not sure who's more excited me or the kids! When I pulled it out of the box, they went bananas. They are having an extremely difficult time keeping their little, grimy hands off...it's just too tempting! This afternoon I noticed Emry standing in front of it softly repeating to herself, "don't touch, don't touch, don't touch"! Funny girl.

- read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
- write letters to Santa
- make various holiday crafts
- take food to a food pantry
- play Christmas bingo
- go for a walk as a family
- Make cookies
- Deliver holiday treats to friends & neighbors
- write a note or color a picture for someone in the family, then give it to them secretly
- extra bedtime stories
- eat dinner by the light of the Christmas tree
- pick out a toy for Toys 4 Tots
- eat dessert first
- make paper snowflakes
- go for a drive to see neighborhood Christmas light displays
- read the Holly Berry Story
- legend/history of the candy cane
I've never done an advent calendar this involved, so I'm excited to see how this works out this month! Happy Holidays! Feel free to leave any additional advent ideas for me b/c I already have a file going for next years ideas!!!

A lady at a stake mtg I was at was talking to me about their advent calendar things...they also stuffed a scripture verse to look up and read...along with the treat, in each door.

Oh I LOVE that advent calendar. I really wanted to get a nice one for our family. I totally spaced out and forgot to order it in time, so hopefully it will be here soon. I have a similar "to do" list, too. It snowed a little bit last night, and it feels more seasonal (besides the brutal cold!)
Adorable idea, I love all the activities involved instead of just a treat!! What a great way to spend the days leading up to the holiday!
Cody's mom has one of these and she puts a different country in each cubby. For dinner they eat the cuisine from the country (i.e. Egypt) and Deb reads from the country's Christmas traditions and culture. It's fun.

I made your sugar cookie recipe for Daphne's class today. They had a Polar Express party and Daphne wanted to bring a treat for all of her friends, so we made some for her whole class. Daphne told me that one of the boys in her class wanted more and more of those cookies. He told her that those were the best things he had ever tried, and they were a lot better than the cupcakes she brought for her birthday. I thought that was really cute and you should know that your recipe is a hit over here in Nevada land. Thanks Millie!
