I'm still pretty sentimental about some of the kids' clothing, especially all my adorable baby girl dresses, but is sentimental enough? Trent thinks I should just narrow it down to 1 box, but I'm looking at the clothes today and am wondering if I'm being crazy? Am I holding on to these items for myself, or my kids? Is it really worth hauling a box of baby clothes around with our household goods for the next 25+ years. And will my kids even care about them when they're older? They are just clothes after all.
My mind is in a quandary.......help!

I know exactly where you are coming from... and it is totoally worse with little girl clothes. Ty thinks Im crazy as well! But I do hang on to all of my favorites... I don't limit myself, maybe I should? All of my not so favorites gets passed onto my sister's kids. I think its sweet to look back on those cute little dresses, because for a moment you remember them that little.. wearing that exact dress. Maybe I'm a bit obsessive though? I say keep at least a few!
They say one of the best things you can do while organizing is get someone to help you who has not emotional attachement to your stuff. Otherwise, you'll end up keeping tons of stuff you don't really need to hang on to. If I were you I'd keep a couple of things and get rid of the rest. If it makes you feel better, give it to someone who you know will love it the same as you did. I'm all about purging!!! Out with the clutter!
Sorry, I thought I'd add one more thing. :) Jeff's mom gave us a box full of his baby clothes, and Jeff was like "Why the crap have you been saving these all these years and what am I supposed to do with them?!" Now that box is sitting in Beck's closet and hasn't been opened since.
That's exactly what I'm afraid of! Let the purging begin!
I do have to pipe up here Ms Millie and say that if our Mother had saved a box of special outfits of yours for you, you would have liked it. A tangible baby book. Plus, you are already the Queen of Purging! You have sold and repurchased more stuff than I can think of!
Milliie, I had the same problem at our last garage sale, so I kept a bag of my favorites and plan on making, well having someone make a quilt for me. Each square will have one of their clothing items. I can't wait to do it.
Millie...Mom here!
Please keep at least a few of your favorites. Those things are always more important to girls than guys. Also, you have 2 girls to split the things with when they have their own...remember that! Love love.
Millie,
I gave Daphne's baby clothes away because my mom read some article out of a business book to me that said, "people who hang onto old clothes are losers." I was afraid of being a loser so I gave her clothes away and now I really really really regret it!
Very dumb. I think you should keep all the clothes you adore. I agree with your mom and Ali. Also my mom did save the dress I was blessed in, and Daisy was able to wear it for her blessing. It really was special for me. It probably is true that your daughters will probably appreciate the clothes more than Lucas's wife. They will understand. You are so good at organizing it probably is not a big deal for you to hang on to things either.
Thanks for all your comments you guys! I just finished going thru everything and have my little box of keepers all fixed up...it feels really good too!
