Nostalgia

I took a few photos of my grandmother's house...just for myself to remember...

For as long as I can remember, my Grandma Marge has liked prisms.  They've always hung in this upstairs room.  When I would stay over as a small child, we'd sit and look for the rainbows.  On this trip, it was my kids looking for them....

As a little girl, one thing I knew for sure was that when sleeping over at Grandma's house, you got to have a bubble bath!  I always looked forward to this ritual because she kept the bubbles in these fancy jars and I could choose pink strawberry, or green crystals...I always chose the pink strawberry kind.

This little egg keeper has been in her kitchen forever!  Even before she remodeled!

Hop, Hop, Hop...It's Easter Time!

We spent the Easter holiday in Southern Wisconsin at my Grandma Marge's home.  My Uncle Jeff & Aunt Peg and cousin Jason came over from Madison for the day too.  The kids were so excited to have an egg hunt.  Uncle Jeff brought full size candy bars to add to the hunt and the kids went bananas!

I remember having  Easter Egg Hunts in my grandma's yard, so it was special for me to have my children there making memories!!

Lunch was enjoyed in style, as always!!  We enjoyed salad, ham, deviled eggs, asparagus & a strawberry roll for dessert...doesn't get much better!

My Old Stomping Ground...Lake Mills

We spent the weekend at my Grandma Marge's house in Fort Atkinson and I took the opportunity to drive my children around the town I spent part of my growing up years in...Lake Mills.  We drove out to Aztalan State Park to see the Indian mounds and forts.  I frequented this place as a child during the summer for picnics and exploring as well as during the winter for awesome sledding!!

I drove past a few homes of childhood friends, showed the kids where I attended elementary school & the houses I lived in.  I went past the church building where I was the first person to be baptized in the building when it was new.  And it wouldn't have been a complete experience if I didn't show them Bartles & Sandy beaches.  It was a very windy & stormy day, but we were able to enjoy ourselves.

Lindsey & Tiffany Lees

When I was a small girl, maybe 2nd or 3rd grade...the actual beginning is hazy to me, I became friends with two sisters named Lindsey & Tiffany Lees.  The rest is history...we were childhood bff's!  Many of my most treasured childhood memories or moments of mischief include them.
  • like eating lunch at the ice cream/burger joint on the way to Sandy beach
  • like the time Putzer chased us from putting green to putting green on the golf course in his 4 wheeler.
  • the "holy shoes"
  • fashion shows
  • riding our bikes all over tar-nation
  • sleep overs (I pretty much lived at their place over the summer)
  • breakfast laid out on the table with OJ and Flintstones vitamins
  • eating ice out of the ice machine in the basement of the club house
  • learning to play golf
  • bartles beach
  • sandy beach
  • John's boat...speedy gonzales
I could go on and on!  However, we grew up and contact has been sparse since high school.  Recently we reunited on facebook and I was just able to see them both in Fort Atkinson!  It was just like old times.  It was one of those moments that you're unsure of and I remember feeling suddenly nervous as I knocked on the door of Tiffany's home.  But, thankfully as soon as the door opened and I saw them it was immediately comfortable.  Like a line drawn between us had been reconnected!  Their was absolutely no awkwardness!  I love friendships like this!!

Here's to many more reunions!  And here's to us all grown up with children of our own...who I will never share 1/2 the naughty stuff we said and did when we were little with!!!

The Newton Menagerie

One of the best parts of visiting Uncle Josh & Aunt Kristene's house is what you can find in the back yard!!!  They have a peck of the craziest, quirky chickens I've ever seen.  They have a coop, but are rarely in it when the weather's nice.  Usually you can find them wondering around and exploring the backyard.  It's a lot of fun to watch them...and today we got to see a scuffle!

 And the winner is!!

Newton is a small town, but it is full of surprises.  A few doors down from my brother, the family has a lot of animals.  They take care of them and travel around to different fairs and petting zoos!  Their backyard is absolutely insane, the kids were totally loving it.

brand new baby goats are kept in the garage

the baby sheep were a bit shy and didn't stray too far from their momma
this goose was walking around the pen of boy goats as if it ruled the world
this pig was pretty huge!  it just stood by the fence and stared at us the whole time we were visiting
here is Maya.  she's the bestest lab ever.  she is just like Nana, from Peter Pan, she's always trailing after the kids making sure everyone is alright.  she's such a lover!!
Kade & Carley watching a bit o tv

these guys were super excited to have their photos taken, they kept running to different places all over the yard begging for me to take pictures, very cute!
Zack & Addi

OK, this totally cracked me up.  Here is Zack in his soccer outfit.  He is the resident jock.  He wears this uniform everyday.  Kristene has to physically peel it off his body every few days for washing!  So funny!

The Cronicles of Tapa...the cat.

OK Cat lovers of the world explain this....we're going on vacation and wanted to board our cat, but they wouldn't take her unles...
