The Great Snow Storm of Twenty-Ten

We haven't haven't had a snow storm quite like we saw today in years!  The last really huge storm WI saw was the big Halloween ice storm of 1991...if you tried to trick or treat that night you know what I'm talking about!!!

We woke up today to about 4" of snow and by dark I'd guess we had more like 18.  The wind has really been blowing and the snow drifts are incredible.  It's still snowing, so we'll see how things look tomorrow morning.

The kids of course went bananas...again!  They went out 3 different times to play today, each time coming in a little sooner than the last b/c they were fatigued from trying to walk in the snow.  The dogs wouldn't even go out until my dad shoveled them a pathway, and then they basically did their business on the doorstep.

A few days ago Carely was outside sledding with the kids and her gloves fell off.  Her poor hands were so cold, red and chapped that Emry had to walk her back inside while she sobbed.  We got them all thawed out, but she hasn't forgotten the unpleasantness.  She stuck her head out the doorway today once just to see the kids and that was as close as she got to going outside!

My Snow Monster

I'm not sure what he was doing here.  I couldn't see him out the back window, so I opened the door and called his name.  He was hiding behind the gas tank...boys are wierdos!!

Good thing church got canceled tomorrow because it's going to take that long to dig myself out!!
