Carley turns 5!

Family dinner... It was an interesting combination of foods (pizza, macaroni & cheese and ice cream sundaes) but when it's your birthday at our house, you get to choose!

Grandma & Grandpa May had perfect timing with their phone call, right during our dinner.

the current obsession is la la loopsy.  she was so happy that we got her some.

Friend Party... When I asked Carley what kind of birthday party she wanted, she only had to think about it for about 3 seconds, then while jumping up and down she yelled ecstatically, "A RAINBOW PARTY! A RAINBOW PARTY!"  Since she'd never had a friend party before I felt I had to do it.  You know me, so of course I wanted to go all the way and knock it out of the park.  I spent a few days researching on line and brainstorming.  I came up with a plan.  I did what I could and delegated some too.  In the end, with a lot of help from friends and we nailed it.  She was a very, very happy girl and the party was a complete success!

First, I made and delivered these...

Then we got busy making decorations...
I saw this adorable idea on pinterest and immediately went to work creating!
I ordered 2 strands of plain lanterns that I let the girls paint on with watercolors.  They turned out so pretty.

We mad a birthday banner.
She invited 5 little friends. From left to right, Kayle Nelson, Savea Leholm, Carley Price, Aili Leholm, Ada Fehrman & Katie Hughes
When the girls arrived Lyndsee painted their nails!  All we heard were ooohs and ahhhs and giggles!
After everyone arrived, it was time for rainbow games...
We played Rainbow Bingo.
We read The Rainbow Fish.

We made a rainbow craft to take home.

We played "musical rainbow dots"...imagine musical chairs with colorful rainbow dots to stand on instead of chairs to sit on.
We played the unwrap the present game.
And everyone received a beautiful rainbow heart bracelet.

Finally, we brought out the treats....
Lyndsee & I spent a lot of time and energy making these...they're harder to do that you'd think...BUT soooo worth the headache!

my sous chef

Sometimes friends go above and beyond the call of duty.  I took Heather fruit to make kabobs and she brought this awesomeness!
And the coolest part, DRUM ROLL PLEASE....
What rainbow party would be complete without a rainbow party cake??

I hid it from Carely until just before the guests arrived.  She went bananas when she saw it!  She was crazy about it and couldn't stop smiling when she looked at it.  I had warm fuzzies when I saw the look on her face!  I love to make my kids happy!!

Finally, after everyone had full tummies and were high on sugar, we sent them on their way with cute goodie bags filled with, what else?  all things rainbow of course!!

watercolors, crayons, wiki stixs, play dough, lip smackers, skittles & a mixed music CD of Carley's favorite tunes.

 Best Birthday Party Ever!!!
