Marlo & Sabine

Marlo & Sabine are my sister Ali's twin girls.  They are 10 months old in these photos from September.  They were just beginning to crawl!  They keep my sister pretty darn busy all the time!!  They're so cute, I'd like to eat them up.

Door County-Day 3, part 2

After the party we took off to go ride go karts at Pirate's Cove!!

We had to wait a few turns...the anticipation was building!

Next we decided to head out of town to the Wagon Wheel to get sticky buns for breakfast the following day.  The drive across the tip of the thumb was gorgeous.  When we arrived the hotel was having a fish boil out front.  It was interesting to watch from afar.  The flamage was huge!  Could be a fun thing to attend on our next trip!!

Door County-Day 3, part 1

We woke up to a gorgeous day on Saturday!  We headed out to Al Johnson's for breakfast.  I'm so glad it stopped raining because I was most excited to take my kids to see the goats on his roof!!  It is one of my most treasured memories as a kid...the anticipation of seeing goats on a roof, so totally AWESOME!  We oogled at the goats and then headed inside for a Swedish breakfast!  Usually the line for Al Johnson's is huge, but b/c of all the rain and cold weather we got in right before the crowds.  Yeah for us!

At noon we got together with the entire family to celebrate my grandmother's 84th birthday.  My mom gave a little speech telling us some background family history.  Then my grandma Marge, her brother Nick & sister Cilla all started telling stories and different memories they all had from growing up during the depression as well as about their parents.  It was really special.

Door County-Day 2

We got up early so we could beat the lines for breakfast at the Whitegull Inn.  They have the best breakfast items that I've ever had.  They are so yummy!  It's always exciting to be able to eat there.  I ate cherry stuffed french toast and it was divine!  I loved that the cherries were local too, made them taste even better.

After breakfast Grandpa watched all the cousins and the ladies ran out for a little shopping.  Door County is full of quaint little shops.  We always go to the same ones and usually check out a few new ones too.  I bought a few Christmas trinkets in Tannenbaum.  Before we got home it started raining and raining and raining...finally in the late afternoon it stopped.  We made a break for it, and took our horde of hooligans to the park across the street from Al Johnson's in Sister Bay. 

Our playtime was cut short by a rain storm coming off the water.  It was pretty awesome seeing the storm reach the shore.  We had to run for our lives to get to the car before we got soaked...we didn't make it.

Door County-Day 1

Every year my mother's side of the family meets in Door County for my Grandma Marge's birthday.  My mom's family has always visited Wisconsin's thumb every summer.  I went as a child too, so it's a family tradition.  This year I was able to go with the kids a few days after Trent left for Diego Garcia.  I was excited to take the kids because Luke and Emry are old enough to remember it this time.  (They've both been before, but were pretty little)  I used my camera and my iphone for photos during our stay.  It was fun to shoot with my iphone b/c it was so handy.

We ate at a pub...they have a perfect back room tucked away for groups with kids.

 We stayed at the Main Street Motel in Fish Creek...it's the hotel of choice for all our stays in Door County.  It's close to shops, food and the dock where my Uncle Jeff keeps his boat.

The meet and greet.  It was a reunion trip for me.  I haven't met some of the cousins that came from Michigan and others I hadn't seen since I was a small girl.  It was really nice to get caught up!
