Naturally winter arrived and they dropped their leaves and went into hibernation for the winter.....well they never came out of hibernation this spring. I was sooo sad. I thought I'd somehow killed them over the winter. I looked up info on the Internet and asked questions to local gardeners, but no concrete answers. One man from church told me that if I couldn't get bogenvia to grow, I wasn't much of a gardener. What was I supposed to say to that? I didn't want to pull them out, actually that's stretching the truth a bit. I have been lazy and busy during the summer so they were forgotten.
Well imagine my surprise a few weeks ago when they began to grow green healthy leaves! And now flowers!!!

Good job! I have a riotous amount of purple, yellow, and white petunias growing around apricot roses and red bushes... it's the saddest collaborations of colors I've ever seen. Cody does not get to come to the nursery with me next year. :o) But I'm hovering over the English roses since I'm not a rose gardener. Everything else is an annual (much to Cody's disappointment) so I'll control the color scheme next year.
I think they are beautiful and I'm so glad that they lived! Are they completely leafed out, or is it here and there? Perhaps just leave them completely alone and watch the water they are getting. Sneak out there at night when the sprinklers are on and take a look at their reach. Too much may be your problem, not too little. Good luck!
Good job Millie! I kill everything I try to grow, except my kids....the flowers are beautiful. You're lucky to have super gardener, aka your mom, as a coach. My mom is a great gardener too but I did not inherit her abilities...have a great vacation!
These are beautiful. I when I grow up, I'd like to have beautiful flowers around my home, too!! My dogs trample most of the landscaping I've tried thus far.
