Happy happy birthday Carley dear, happy days will come to you all year. If I had one wish, then it would be, a happy happy birthday to you from me!
We're so lucky to have Carley as part of our family. We just wouldn't be complete without her. The last few weeks she's really begun to change and become her own little person. Her emerging personality is very infectious and goofy. She loves to smile and laugh. We are beginning to wonder if she'll be the family clown.
Here's a list of her current favorites and tricks: she's walking, but still crawls faster than lightening; she gives hugs and kisses on demand; she has, all of a sudden, become Trent's little sidekick; she loves her little "raggie" (a spit up rag that she's turned into a blankie); she loves to eat what ever you're having; loves drinking from a straw; loves being outside; loves going to bed at night (practically dives into the crib after a quick snuggle); waves hi and goodbye; loves to empty the toy box and laundry baskets; loves water (pool, beach, bath, you name it) and she will scream for ice cream!
The party was nice. We ate some of Carley's favorites bbq's, beans, salad, fruit and chips.

I used fondant for the fist time on Carley's cake. I won't show any extreme closeups, but it turned out good enough. This picture was taken while we were singing happy birthday, she dove right in and started picking polka dots off the cake...too cute!

Bet you didn't get much sleep. I know the Millie-Night-Before drill. Like waking up Christmas Eve to the ENTIRE kitchen full of gorgeous tiny little cookies of all shapes and colors and tastes--ones that I would have died for when I hosted tea parties in my bedroom in the mid-1980s...

Happy 1st Birthday Carley! Beautiful cake, Millie! Looks like a very girly pretty party.
We celebrate first birthdays big, too. It is such a turning point from baby to toddler, and for the parents a real change in family dynamic with an ever more independent family member!
To me, every milestone is bittersweet... :)

Aaaawwww Millie, ya did good girl! The cake looks so pretty. I can't imagine working with fondant. Looks hard. I love your sucker photo. Where was Lukas?
he was there...probably under the table sneaking doritos. he's never very far from the goodies, just like his old lady!
